Why we love Ocean Ramsey
You may have seen some photos of a great white shark swirling round online recently. None other than a 20ft long, 2.5 tonne great white shark named Deep Blue alongside a very talented and inspirational diver. The diver is none other than Ocean Ramsey, who last summer we named our Ramsey One Piece in honour of.
Ramsey said her team had been monitoring tiger sharks feeding when the legendary great white made her surprise appearance. The divers "spent the entire day with her till the sun went down,"

"I waited quietly, patiently, observing as she swam up to the dead sperm whale carcass and then slowly to me," she said. "I gently put my hand out to maintain a small space so her girth could pass."
Ramsey touched the shark as it swam by and, while noting that some divers frown upon this, added that in fact "sometimes sharks seek touch."
Ramsey continued to write that the species "are not the mindless monsters they are portrayed as,"
But Ramsey later warned people that the creatures can be unpredictable, writing: "I highly discourage people from purposely jumping in the water with great white sharks or tiger sharks." Perhaps one to leave to the professionals!
Thank you Ocean for capturing these beautiful images so we all see these creatures in their natural habitat, even if not quite so up close and personal!
