Resort 18 at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia
Over the weekend, Marble Swimwear were lucky enough to attend the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Resort Wear Show. It's always such a pleasure seeing our favourite Australian designers showcase their work, and the event itself is something to behold. The great and good of Australian fashion continue to gather with more and more international names and experts taking notice, the show grows year after year.
Now the best thing in our opinion about Australia is the weather we're blessed with. It means, therefore, that Resort wear can be worn for most months of the year, and not just reserved for holidays. It's our natural habitat here in Australia and hands down our favourite season when it comes to fashion. Plus, who doesn't love wearing pieces that are practically like a holiday just plucking them from our wardrobe?
And just like planning a holiday can almost be as much fun as actually going on it, so too can planning out your holiday outfits. For me the ultimate must-pack piece is of course my favourite bikini. Currently I'm loving the Naomi Top and Monaco Bottoms in Black, 'cause what girl doesn't need that go-to black bikini?
This year the designs were scattered with lots of natural tones. We Are Kindred had a beautiful range of floaty and feminine shapes, whilst the dominant colours on the runway ranged from burnt oranges, khaki greens and muted nudes. The designs were clearly inspired by nature and we think there will be a lot more of this style to come over the next few months.
After the show, we stopped by the Grazia stage to watch a seminar lead by Rachel Sharpe, Grazia’s Fashion News Director. She was discussing the the ins and outs of developing a fashion brand with Steph and Ness from Carver, a beautiful brand the talented sisters started a little over 6 months ago. There was more than a little of the conversation that we could relate to, but it was also great of Grazia to focus on emerging talent within Australia - the more time we spent at MBFWA, the more obvious it was to the depth of talent that we have here!
Following that, there was little more to do than grab a glass (or two) of bubbles and hit the road. Until next year, MBFWA!
