NEW YEAR, SAME YOU

A brand new year is upon us babes, and with that comes a time to reflect and plan for an even better year ahead. Here at Marble, we don't believe in making resolutions you can't keep and you won't stick to. Our aim is to make a series of smaller changes, for a happier and healthier 2019.

That means, New Year, Same You (But Even Better!)

Here's a list of some changes we intend to make to ensure 2019 is the best year yet!

1. Make time for yourself
Make a list of five activities or places that bring joy to you, be that going for a hike, wine tasting, going to the beach or just taking 10 minutes to enjoy a cup of tea in the morning. Then, vow to tackle one every week.
Here's a few ideas to get you started:
- Go for a long walk
- Work out with a friend
- Organise dinner with a loved one and turn off our mobile phones
- Get up early and have an extra long breakfast before heading in to the office

2. Value your time
Whether it's agreeing to drinks when you really just want to watch House of Cards, or swinging by a colleague's birthday just to show face, we all need to stop agreeing to things we don't actually want to do. We shouldn't feel guilty about making choices that cater to our happiness instead of someone else's. In 2019, we're making a promise to ourselves to value our time a little more and do what makes us happiest. 

3. Exercise because you want to, and it makes you feel good
Find an activity, or series of activities that energise you and make you feel good. Ultimately if you don't enjoy exercising, you're not going to go. And that resolution will have fallen by the waste side come February. Find something that you look forward to doing!

4. Spend more time outside
Green spaces deliver an unrivalled calming effect. Go for a walk, sit in the park, even just take a walk over your lunch break or get off the bus a stop early. Spending 15 minutes near greenery, the beach or outdoor space generally is an effortless way to relax your body. 

5. Set a Screen-free bedtime routine
Read a book, sit in a warm bath, stretch or meditate for 10 minutes right before you shut your eyes, calming down and relaxing your body and mind makes for a much more restful night's sleep. At Marble, we're leaving our phones outside of the bedroom completely and investing in a good old fashioned alarm clock. 
  
6. Try something new
Be that a new sport, a new recipe, travelling to a new country or learning a new language. Try something new, you've always wanted to do!
